Program Details

The City of Antioch’s BUILD Academy has provided young adults with hands-on design and material exercises for the last three years. You will explore case study buildings, attend site and professional firm visits through video streaming and chat, and will also receive kits of materials and supplies to allow you to participate in hands-on design and building wherever you may be. All interns can access the latest design software and compute through our on-site computer lab or the City of Antioch’s computer loan program.

In addition to the sketchbook, you receive, you will develop a digital and physical portfolio suitable for design school applications.

Program dates:  July 8-August 9, 2024 | 12:30-4PM PST

Format: This is a hybrid internship; you participate online, with some days at the computer lab! All interns get paid.

*Computer lab in the City of Antioch will be made available for students that do not have access to desktop or laptop computers.

Tuition: FREE

Technical Requirements: As an intern for BUILD Antioch, you’ll be required to use a computer as part of your work and studies. It will help you enrich learning experiences in the studio, improve communication with your instructors, design studio managers, and other interns and offer direct access to educational resources.

Laptop or desktop?  Whichever you choose depends on your personal preference and work style, though laptops tend to offer more flexibility.

Chromebooks (Chrome OS) and iPads (iOS) do not meet the minimum requirements for the architecture internship. These offer limited functionality and do not work with some studio technologies. While these devices are convenient and may be used for some internship functions, they cannot be your primary device. The City of Antioch does, however, have a computer lab option.
