Youth Intervention Program

Established in 1983, the Youth Intervention Program is coordinated by REACH Project, Inc. under contract with the City of Antioch:
Antioch Police Department as a collaborative venture between APD, Antioch Unified School District, Contra Costa County Probation Department and RH. Upwards of 1,000 youths annually are served through accountability-based educational, counseling and treatment related diversionary services as a proven and proactive alternative to the criminal justice system. Statistics show less than 8 percent recidivism. Over 92% of participating minors and their parents have successfully completed program requirements including mandatory REACH services.

Hearing Days and Times
Youth Intervention Program hearings occur at the Antioch Police Facility on Tuesdays and Fridays. Hearings normally last 30-60 minutes and with required paperwork can take up to two hours from the time of arrival.

REACH Services

The REACH Central Offices are located at 1915 “D” Street in Antioch (phone number (925) 754-3673 & Fax Number (925) 754-2002).

Business hours are Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM in addition to regular evening and weekend programs.

The following lists a sample of REACH services. Each program is a minimum 10 hrs, maximum 50 hours, and includes a certificate of completion:

EDUCATION AND SKILLS BUILDING WORKSHOPS
Highly participating and interactive curriculum addresses improved decision-making skills, anger management and drug/alcohol abuse prevention.

PARENT/TEEN EDCUATIONAL SERIES
Evening services are available for parents and their teenage children focusing on communication, mutual respect and problem solving.

COUNSELING AND TREATMENT
Adolescent and Adult treatment and recovery program services are offered on an outpatient basis through the local Alcohol and Other Drugs System of Care.

RESTORATIVE JUSTICE
Youth participants undergo a series of learning activities and exercises for the purpose of solidifying their understanding of the consequences of law violating behavior.
