The Antioch Senior Center is closed until further notice.

Due to the growing concerns over the COVID-19, Contra Costa County Health has determined that all non-essential public functions be cancelled and people should Shelter-In-Place, especially those aged 65+. 

The following resources are available for older adults.  (Availability subject to change).

Food & Supplies

  • Great Plates Delivered: Seniors at high risk or already affected by COVID-19 are matched with local restaurants to get meals delivered three times a day. To apply for this meal service, call 1-800-510-2020. For restaurants wanting to be part of this program, click here
  • Groceries: If you are homebound and low-income and need food or supplies, click here.
  • Meals on Wheels: Seniors who need food delivered directly to their homes, please contact Meals on Wheels – Diablo Region, to be added to one of their existing routes. Phone number is 925-937-8311. If you or any other senior needs transportation assistance to and from grocery stores, doctor visits, or need companionship – please contact 925.779.7077, leave a message and we will get back to you.
  • Special Senior Shopping Hours: The following local supermarkets have provided special hours for people aged 60+
    • Costco: Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., for members ages 60 and older, and people with disabilities
    • Safeway: Tues + Thurs,  7-9am
    • Lucky’s: Tues + Thurs,  7-9am

Financial Assistance

  • AARP Tax Preparation Services: In March, it was announced the deadline to file taxes was extended to July 15. Due to Shelter-In-Place, AARP Volunteers cannot help file taxes at this time. For questions on Tax Returns, call the AARP directly at 1-888-227-7669, or click here.
  • Job Loss: Have you or a loved one lost their job? Go to www.OnwardCA.org, a new state website dedicated to provide resources and services to those who have become unemployed due to COVID-19.

Social, Emotional, or Mental Support

  • Aging & Adult Services: If you know of an older adult or person with disabilities who is in urgent need of help and there is no friend, neighbor or family member close by that can assist them, call Aging & Adult Services at 1-800-675-8437, available 24/7.
  • Friendship Line: Institute on Aging’s 24-hour toll-free Friendship Line is the only accredited crisis line in the country for people aged 60 years and older, and adults living with disabilities. They also make on-going outreach calls to lonely older adults. Call 1-800-971-0016. For more info click here.

Recreation

  • Well Connected: If you are aged 60+ and looking for activities to do, or would just like to talk to friendly voices, we suggest trying out Well Connected, a “senior center without walls” that provides activities and conversations over the phone or online.   • Virtual Rec: We now have “Virtual Recreation” offerings click here. to go to our dedicated page that has activities of all different kinds for you to enjoy at home.
