The following resources are available for older adults.  (Availability subject to change).

Food & Supplies

  • Food Bank: Low-income seniors 55+, can recieve free groceries, including healthy pantry staples, eggs, cheese and assorted meats twice a month! Fill out this application and turn it in at the Senior Center Front Desk or email seniors@antiochca.gov
  • Groceries: If you are homebound and low-income and need food or supplies, click here.
  • Meals on Wheels: Seniors who need food delivered directly to their homes, please contact us. If you or any other senior needs transportation assistance to and from grocery stores, doctor visits, or need companionship – please contact 925.778-1158, leave a message and we will get back to you.

Financial Assistance

Health & Safety

  • HICAP, Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program: provides free, unbiased education, counseling, and advocacy about Medicare.  HICAP helps people understand how Medicare works and how to make informed choices. Confidential individual counseling is provided on the phone, by email, and in person at the Antioch Senior Center and other locations in Contra Costa County.  HICAP also offers many “Welcome to Medicare” classes.  Call the HICAP number 925-655-1393 to talk to a counselor or make an appointment. Medicare Open Enrollment is Oct. 15th to December 7th.  Every year plans change their covered drugs, co-pays, doctor networks and more. Your current plan may no longer be best for you.

Social, Emotional, or Mental Support

  • Aging & Adult Services: If you know of an older adult or person with disabilities who is in urgent need of help and there is no friend, neighbor or family member close by that can assist them, call Aging & Adult Services at 1-800-675-8437,available 24/7.
  • COVID-19 Support Group: Feeling stressed or isolated due to the pandemic? Share with others or find connections in the new COVID-19 Confidential Support Group sponsored by the Contra Costa Crisis Center. Click here
  • Friendship Line: Institute on Aging’s 24-hour toll-free Friendship Line is the only accredited crisis line in the country for people aged 60 years and older, and adults living with disabilities. They also make on-going outreach calls to lonely older adults. Call 1-800-971-0016. For more info click here.

  • Front Door Library Service: Contra Costa Libraries can assist you in selecting a book or even provide a reading list based on your interests. Go to https://ccclib.org
  • Well Connected: If you are aged 60+ and looking for activities to do, or would just like to talk to friendly voices, we suggest trying out Well Connected, a “senior center without walls” that provides activities and conversations over the phone or online.
