Tri Delta Transit’s Paratransit

ADA Paratransit transportation is for individuals with disabilities who cannot independently use fixed route Tri Delta Transit bus service some of the time or all the time. Trips must be prearranged.

All Tri Delta Transit buses are accessible, and many individuals with disabilities can use the fixed route bus service. However, if you are unable to use fixed route transportation for some or all your trips, you may be eligible for ADA Paratransit transportation. If you’re not sure whether you’re able to use the fixed route bus, call Tri Delta Transit at (925) 754-6622.

The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, better known as the ADA, is federal legislation that guarantees individuals with disabilities full and equal access to the same services and accommodations that are available to individuals without disabilities.

The ADA requires public transit operators to provide paratransit service to individuals with disabilities that is comparable to the level of fixed route service provided. Individuals with disabilities who cannot independently ride fixed route transportation may be eligible for ADA Paratransit transportation.

Tri Delta Transit’s Paratransit transportation includes two programs. ADA Paratransit transportation and Senior (Age 65+) Paratransit transportation.

ADA Paratransit transportation

This type of door-to-door public transportation service is provided following the requirements and regulations of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). It is limited to individuals who are unable to use fixed route public transportation some or all of the time due to a disability or health related condition. If you qualify, you will be able to travel on paratransit systems throughout the nine county Bay Area.

Senior (Age 65 +) Paratransit transportation

While not required by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Tri Delta Transit provides local door-to-door public transportation to individuals who are 65 years of age or older. This transportation is limited to Tri Delta Transit’s service area in Eastern Contra Costa County and is subject to ride availability.
