Design Review

The purpose of Design Review is to ensure that designs of projects that are subject to review will result in improvements that are visually and functionally appropriate to their site conditions and harmonious with their surroundings, including natural landforms and vegetation. The Design Review process promotes and encourages high quality architecture, design and site planning. New buildings, exterior changes to existing buildings, or the installation of permanent signage requires Design Review approval.

The Citywide Design Guidelines provide guidance on design for streetscapes, commercial and residential projects. The provisions of the Design Guidelines are applicable to any new buildings, additions, exterior alterations, landscaping, and modification to an approved landscaping plan or parking lot design. These guidelines do not affect existing buildings that are not proposed for new construction, exterior alterations, landscaping, or changes in the parking lot layout.
